Transition reading at the library

Clonmel library have been very supportive of the Transition Town venture. We approached them to see if we could start a Transition section, by donating appropriate books, CDs etc. This is how it works.

We gather suitable books, and give them to the library. They go off to Thurles to be put on the system, and arrive back in Clonmel a couple of weeks later. At the moment they can’t start a separate Transition section, but what they can do is produce a reading list. You can then use this as a guide to finding items in the library. We will keep the list updated here as it grows.

The Transition Handbook is in the system and should appear in the library around Easter. At the moment we are relying on donated material, so if you have books, CDs or DVDs that you no longer need (or only need the odd time) then bring it along to one of our events, or contact us by email, and we will arrange for it to go into the library.

The scope of Transition reading is huge! You might have books on wind turbines, community development, keeping pigs, the philosophy of change, bicycle repair…and we should say that the library already has some excellent reading on relevant subjects.
